Life In 25 Easy Lessons

This was in a book called "Teacher Miracles" I found at half price books for a dollar. It had some really interesting stuff in it including this:

1. On the day we're born, we learn that if someone smacks us, it's going to hurt.

2. On this same day, we learn that if someone holds us, the hurt goes away.

3. No matter how bad a face we make or how many times we spit it out, we still have to eat our spinach.

4. Haircuts don't hurt. Fast forward ten years. It's cool to be a kid - except for the homework.

5. We can't tell the teacher, "The dog ate my homework." Even if the other kids do laugh.

6. The dog still loves us if we blame him for something he didn't do. Our best friend doesn't.

7. Some people do things better than we do, even when we give it our all. And sometimes we're the best.

8. It's fun to eat hot dogs in the rain. Fast forward another ten years. I'm an adult. I can do what I want, when I want.

9. The world doesn't revolve around us.

10. We should have paid more attention in class.

11. There's no spring break. Even worse, there's no summer-long vacation.

12. Paychecks are nice.

13. Babies either smell really good, or really bad.

14. Toddlers are fast.

15. Sometimes it's necessary to step back and let children learn by doing.

16. Road trips build character.

17. Our teachers were never this young.

18. Homework never changes.

19. Children always find a way to surprise us.

20. Adult vacations are wonderful.

Reasons why today isn't my day:

1. I had to work and it was slow but people kept turning in stuff so I was the only one really busy.

2. My sense of time is extremely slow today. It feels like I'm living one week in one day.

3. I found out my zoo membership was sent to the wrong address. So now if I don't get it by friday I have to call them again and tell them all of the zoos I'm going to so they can call them and let them know I'm coming and I have a membership.

4. Our baby birds died. We had finches nesting under the overhang in the back of the house and a dead one is just hanging out of the nest and it's gross and sad and is making me cry.

5. Knowing I have to work again tomorrow and monday.

6. Bad dreams cause me to have bad days. Damn dreams.

Just Wow.

I'm so completely surprised right now. Like, holy crap. Okay so last year Evan and I went to Kentucky for a weekend vacation. We went to the Lincoln Heritage House which is a two building cabin that was built by Thomas Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln's father in Elizabethtown, Kentucky (they call themselves E-town too :D). Abe spent the first years of his life there. We went on May 22nd, 2009. Just one week later on May 29th, 2009, it was gutted out and partially collapsed in a fire. It doesn't stand anymore. Evan and I were one of the last few people to see the house standing. That is beyond crazy. It was a national landmark! Wow. Just wow.

Squawk

I swear I will spend today being productive. I did my nutrition project for class, so that was productive. I should do a load of laundry and clean my room some. Yep, that sounds like a good idea. I figured out what to do for my community service! I'm going to go sort books at main for the library book sale. So I'll pretty much be doing my job for two hours without getting paid. I find that amusing XD

So yes. Oh! I also need to study for my math final. This is one busy week. Luckily I'll be able to breathe again on the 19th :)

Techno-logik

I really just want this semester to be done now. I hate how they always drag out the last couple of weeks to the point where I'm only there 2 days, monday and friday. It's pointless. I wanted to take my final tomorrow but my professor didn't show up on Wednesday so I could tell her I wanted to take it early. Blehh. So now I'm semi stressed because I have to do 2 hours of community service that I totally forgot about for a class and if I don't do it my grade drops a letter grade. The problem is I don't know what to do which sounds retarded compared to all of the community service I did in high school. So I need to figure out what I'm gonna do like tomorrow because it's due next Tuesday. Ugh.

This weekend was a ton of fun. I worked Friday but then went out with Sara later in the day. We chilled in her basement while we had a tornado warning. It always happens when we're together! Then we went to Texas Roadhouse around 10pm.
Saturday Evan, his parents and aunt and I went to Canton to the National First Ladies Museum. I got my national parks passport stamped (yay! now I have two stamps!) and we took the tour. It was extremely interesting. I'm not really into history but when I'm seeing actual artifacts and stuff I'm stunned and totally into it. Part of the museum is a national library and the other part was Ida McKinley's house. The house was my favorite part. The first floor was all redone, but the 2nd and 3rd floors were original. Houses were so different back then. They had a freaking ballroom on the 3rd floor! They also had William McKinley's desk that he used while he was a lawyer in Canton. I learned a ton of things. We also went to the McKinley memorial that was just down the road where William, Ida and their two daughters are laid to rest. It was also interesting. Afterward we went down to Amish Country and ate at Der Dutchman (best place ever!) and went into a few of the shops. I got my dad some trail bologna, from trail, oh. It was a very fun day. I bought some new pins and postcards for my collection so I was happy :)

Today my mom and I went to the mall for a little bit and basically vegged around the house. It was really nice to do because I'm always working or doing stuff for school and whatnot.

Bleh. But anyway I have to get through finals and final preparations for the next week and a half. Thanks a lot pointless reading days. I hate you. I want summer but in a way I kind of don't know because when I'm not working I'll probably be bored. Maybe I need to find some new hobbies. Hiking in Cascade park isn't fun when you don't even have to worry about getting lost. I could take up birdwatching but you only see so many types in an area really close to you. I could also take up geocaching but I don't have a GPS system, even though I know there's one in the Ridge tool parking lot somewhere. Oh! I really need to catch up on scrapbooking...very bad. I could start there :)

Gah! I'm super bored. We were supposed to review for our math final but our professor wasn't here and made us sit in on another math class. Ugh. So I was planning on taking my final early on monday but now it looks like I'm going to have to take it next friday with everyone else.

So I'm just sitting in the computer lab waiting for zumba to start at 10. I left my phone at home so that won't provide me any entertainment. Hmmm....guess I could work on something...

FoSho Home Dizzie

Well hello the month of May. I was hoping you would get here soon! This week is pretty much our final week of regular classes. Next week I'm on campus for one day for zumba and to take my math final (I wanted to take it early so I didn't have to on a friday). The other days are reading days, which I wish they would get rid of. So that will leave me with my zumba final on the 17th and my health and wellness final on the 18th and it will finally be summer. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

So Saturday Meranda and I ventured to Detroit so I could see Spring Awakening and see what all the fuss for the past year has been. To start off with Detroit is a very uncomfortable city. Especially since the day after we were there there was a huge police shootout by the area we were. We got there a little early and just kept going north to a city called Roseville and ate at Panera and went into a ghettofied Walmart that sold Baby Phat jeans on regular. Meranda also changed her outfit in the parking lot of Borders. This was amusing XD So anyway we hung out there then made our way back to the city. I've heard that directly downtown isn't that bad, its the areas around it. Those areas were not happy areas. The city is filled with HUGE gutted out empty buildings. Its quite sad. Almost everything with a flat surface is tagged. Luckily where the theater is was pretty safe. I didn't feel uncomfortable there and the theater is gorgeous! The play was actually really good. Not something to obsess about, no offense Steph and Mers but I really enjoyed it and was glad I was able to see it. Unfortunately I would like to see it again and that will not be possible XD

After my last test in math, I still have an A! I never do this good in algebra. I was pretty happy :) Now I just have to do good on the final.

I'm Feeling...TexMex!

I can't believe it's the end of April already. Where has this year gone? For some reason I've been really cold all day today. I actually had time to sqeeze a nap in, which felt amazing. I miss my naps.

Today was a little strange. In my zumba class we were recorded so our professor could send it to the big people in zumba and some are posted on facebook. I don't know if you could see it or not, I don't remember if her videos are private. I like it because my ass doesn't look big. Maybe my ass being big is a figment of my imagination. You know, just like those twiggy girls saying they're so fat and whatnot. Lol rambling.

I hate it when your parents leap into the shower right before you want to. Grr. I'm feeling tired and I'm getting a headache at the moment. Bleh. That's all for now :)

Drop it Like It's Hawt

The past week was pretty relaxing, surprisingly. There isn't anything big that I really have to get done, except for SHITTTTTT! I have a math test next monday. Bleh. But that wasn't this past week. Last week I only had to work 3 days. I took a personal day on friday so I could have friday, saturday and sunday off. Thursday when I got off work Sara and I hung out for a bit. Friday my mom and I went shopping at the Avon Commons and Great Northern. We ate at Panera, which I hadn't had since January and we brought home a pizza from Papa Johns. Saturday Evan and I hung out. We ate at the new mexican restaurant downtown called Pancho Villa, they have an amazing cheese sauce. Sunday my parents and I ate lunch at Quaker Steak and Lube. I love it there. Later in the evening Steph, Kelsey and I went to see Riverdance at the state theater. It was amazing! Like holy crap. The Irish are fantastic.

This week is filled with work. The only day I get off is Saturday until the following Wednesday, it kind of blows but at least I have a job to save up for Virginia and NYC. I'm so excited. Only 23 days left of the semester, which most of them don't count because I'm only in school 3 days a week and reading days are added in there and I only have finals on 2 days. So technically it's probably more like 10 days, just all spread out.

I'm starting to notice I am the only one who gets attacked by spiders at work and it's always in the same isle in the children's room. Damn albino spiders. I get paid this week!! Which is always exciting. Paychecks are very nice :)

I just finished reading "Dear John" this morning. Really good book. I didn't cry, but that doesn't mean it's not good. In fact it's very modern and true which is what I liked about it. I think I'm going to read "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" next. Unfortunately the second one came in for me at the library before the first one did but hopefully it will be in sometime this week.
