Thinnnn Mintttttts

And *poof* it's the end of March already. Holy crap. Well seeing as I haven't been on this in over a week we have some things to catch up on. So let's start, shall we?

1. First trip to the zoo this year was this past Saturday which of course means that it just had to be the coldest day we've had since the beginning of February. A lot of the animals weren't out but the ones that were out were very active and I got a few good pictures and an epic penguin hat. We may be going back to the Detroit Zoo (my favorite) this year. Here's hoping!

2. Mine and Evan's 3 year anniversary is this Thursday. It doesn't feel like it's been three years. In fact it feels like I've known him my whole life. Anyway, that means we're eating at Olive Garden as we do every anniversary. It gives us something to look forward too :) Only this year I have work and class and then we get to have fun.

3. Student teaching is going extremely well. I just want to be done with school so I can work with kids. I'm so happy I get to start my day with them. All of my circle times have been completed. All of my lesson plans have gone really well so far. My last one is my final on April 12th. I still have a month in my center and I will be very sad to leave but very happy that summer will have started. I'm taking Ohio History online because I need it for my 4/5 endorsement with Ashland. It doesn't start til June 6th and it ends July 31st so I still will have never been in school on my birthday. I just hope that since I'll be gone a lot in July that won't stir up any problems.

4. Somehow I'm maintaining a 4.0 this semester. If it ends that way I will have to piss myself. Classes are going great and while they are demanding my time management skills have become excellent. Except for the whole browsing the internet about 2 hours a day. I need to cut that out and focus on something else...like cleaning my room.

5. I can't wait for the weather to warm up more. Holy crap. I hate this transitional time where I get shocked on every freaking metal thing I touch which I have realized I have to touch a lot of metal in everyday life.

6. Now I wish I left those girl scout cookies in my locker at work. I really want a freaking thin mint right now.

7. 40 days til graduation. 108 days til New York. 279 days til WDW.

Kickin in the Front Seat

St. Patricks Day is always a good day for me. The weather is always beautiful and it's the one day I'm almost guaranteed every year that it will just be a great uplifting day. This year kept the tradition.

1. I received a lot of compliments about things today. Yesterday I wore my hair in a ponytail and everyone at work flipped out. Apparently it makes me look younger. Today I wore earrings and everyone at work flipped out.

2. I believe I pretty much aced my math test today. I won't find out until Tuesday how I really did but I'm really confident I did really well on this test. Finally, something with geometry.

3. So...those crappy children's poems in my last post that I believe are total crap? My children's literature professor thought they were genius and ended up giving me extra credit because she loved them so much.

4. My mom got off work early today and was home before 9 which is a miracle. I got to spend some time with her and we went on a hunt for shamrock shakes only finding success at the third mcdonalds we went to.

5. The weather is amazing today. I so cannot wait until summer.

Holy shit it's 11?? I have to shower and get my happy ass to bed for work in the morning.

Oops Oh My

These are the children's poems I wrote for my Children's Literature class. Feel free to hoo and haa all you want.

A long time ago in a far away land,
Lived an ogre who had two feet but not a hand.
He would try with all of his might,
All through the day and the night.
But he could never build a castle out of sand.

Icky bicky licky boo,
I love me and you love you.

Sicky quicky hicky hey,
The sun will rise again today.

Rummy gummy summy stew,
I love you if you love me too.

Fummy zummy mummy bite,
The sun will set when it is night.

The alarm goes off,
I try to lay very still.
I won’t have to go to school,
If my mother thinks I’m ill.

I think I have a fever.
I think I have the flu.
I think I have pneumonia.
I don’t know what to do.

I blame my big dirty brother.
He is just crawling with germs.
He keeps his room so messy,
I think it’s infested with worms.

My head feels so heavy.
My arm hurts so bad.
It’s about as inflated,
As my dad when he is mad!

My throat is swollen,
To the size of a basketball!
No I say,
I can’t go to school like this at all.

My mother pats me on the head,
She says “Sweetie, it’s okay,
I know you aren’t really sick
But don’t worry, it’s a snow day!”

Hanging By A Thread

1. Ironically the next day after my last post I received my letter from Ashland that I've been accepted. Megan also received hers and we found out our friend Meghan will also be graduating with us in spring of 2013!

2. My dad got their taxes done (his and my moms, not mine because the guy wants $25 for mine and that's more than I would get back, sooooo no thanks Sparky) and we'll be getting $2400 to put back in my college fund. This will be really helpful although it won't cover half of a semester of Ashland tuition but it's a lot better than nothing.

3. So two people I knew passed away yesterday. This brings my death tole of people I know to 7 in just this year. THIS YEAR. It's been a little over 2 months. Five of them have just been these past two weeks which is kind of freaking me out.

4. I should be doing homework. Or cleaning. I am doing neither.

5. Maybe I will start cleaning...after I read a little bit. And watch Big Bang Theory.

6. Tuesday was a very good day. Not only did I receive my letter but the ECE club went to the Providence House in Cleveland to hand in our collective donations from the drive we did last month and take a tour. It was some feel good emotions. :)

Aardvarks. How Climactical.

1. Awaiting the Ashland letter. I just want it already so I can go buy a damn hoodie XD

2. I'm amazed at how amazing this past weekend was. Friday I used a personal day for work and my mom and I went out to the Lodi Outlets and Avon Commons for the day. The weather was pretty cold and rainy but there was hardly anyone at the outlets so we didn't have to fight crowds. Almost the whole time we would be the only two people in a store. T'was pretty epic :)
Saturday I got to laze around. In the evening I went out with the family to Chili's. Dinner was delicious and we went to Half Price Books afterward. My dad and my grandma had never been to hbp (makes more sense for my dad, he's not a shopper) but we spent well over an hour in there. What does my grandma buy? A cookbook, bookmarks & a slinky...
Sunday Kelsey and I turned her basement in to a dancefloor and played Just Dance on the Wii. I love that game! I suddenly want a Wii just so I can play it :P It was pretty hilarious with lots of arm flailing. I'm really surprised I wasn't sore in the shoulders today. After that we picked up her brother & his friend from a movie (that was one interesting car ride) and we went shopping at Southpark mall. Good day<33

3. 299 days til Walt Disney World & HOPEFULLY Universal Orlando.

4. I finished the first Harry Potter. Yeah, yeah it took me long enough. I was amazed at how different it was from the movie which makes me really excited to read the others. I'm anxiously awaiting the chamber of secrets to come from barnes&noble this week. The funny thing is even though I've only (now) completely read the 1st, 3rd, 4th & 7th, I've read over half of all the others I just never finished them. Of course when I was reading them it was junior high and freshman year when I had the attention span of a gnat if that explains anything.

5. Roadtripping to Ashland University with Megan this summer! Megan is Evan's cousin but we're both in Early Childhood Education, both awaiting our letters from Ashland, both will be taking the exact same courses at the exact same times for the next two years, both will have the same degree with the endorsements, both are in student teaching and both will graduate at the exact same time. We've really bonded this past year when last spring semester Evan's aunt noticed we were both in the same Child Guidance and Classroom Management class. Since then we've talked about everything and started the ECE club together. Which we're both founder & presidents of. I still find it hilarious that she just happens to be Evan's cousin.

6. I need to clean my room. I know, I say this all the time so you're probably just "whatever, that won't happen!" -ing right now. As far as I know I'm not doing much Thursday after work so hopefully I'll work on it then.

7. Zits (on your face, not the comic which is way more entertaining than what is on your face) are annoying.

8. Sudden obsession with Sunkist Solar Fusion!!!

9. So while I'm waiting for Chamber of Secrets to arrive (along with Beastly, but that's a different story -.-) I've gotten around to reading "The Last Song" by Nicholas Sparks. It's really good so far. I'm hoping to finish it before friday which will be a feat since I'm still busy this week and the book is almost 500 pages and I'm currently sitting at about page 126.

Pretty Picture

I must post these because they are just amazing.
These are "Disney Dream Portraits" by Annie Leibovitz. These are the best things I came across since I was introduced to Salvador Dali back in high school.

There are a few others but blogger is stupid and won't let me upload anymore pictures in this post. Enjoy!

And an Onion Log...To Split

1. Hallelujah it's March! January and February are always the worst months of my year for some reason. I think it's because of the weather. Sure, winter is okay and all but never underestimate how nice not having to lug around a coat is. Especially when you're wearing it inside everywhere and you go to use a public bathroom. It is the biggest pain in the ass to wash your hands with a coat on.

2. I've been having the strangest craving for sugary things the past couple days.

3. Student teaching is still going extremely well. The kids are amazing. I know I definitely picked the right field. Half of my lesson plans are typed and I've taught 2 out of the 8. I've done 3 out of 5 circle times. I'm on a roll!

4. My uncles mother (not my grandma) passed away a few days ago. I've known her since my aunt and uncle got married in 1997. She lived in Niles with the rest of my uncles family which is pretty much like an Elyria on the far east of Ohio. I had been over her house once which from what I remember was very cluttered. I liked to play with her piano. I'm pretty bummed she's gone even though I only saw her a couple of times a year. RIP Sort-of-Grandma Smith<3

5. As of 3:30pm today, I'm on spring break time. Although I have big projects to think about and start working on.

6. I started reading the first Harry Potter today. Not only do I have to read it for Children's Literature but I had planned on reading all of the books before the 2nd part of the last movie came out. I had originally planned that Evan and I were going to see the midnight showing of HP7pt.2 but I will be in New York for that release now :/ Luckily he's willing to wait a few weeks so he can see it with me.

7. My dad just knocked on my door to tell me that EMH is on facebook...he's amazed.

8. Out shopping with my mom tomorrow. I love having mother-daughter bonding time.

9. The politicians of the American government sadden me.

10. I've heard "Born this Way" twice and it's been stuck in my head the last four days.

11. We've been doing geometry in math. Life is good again.
